Integrative & Functional Medicine - What does it mean?

Think of Integrative Medicine as whole-person care. It blends the best of traditional medicine (like prescriptions or surgery) with safe, proven natural therapies (like yoga, acupuncture, or meditation). Instead of just treating symptoms, it looks at you as a whole; your body, mind, spirit, lifestyle, and even relationships. Integrative Medicine is the umbrella, blending conventional and holistic care.

Functional Medicine goes a step deeper. It asks “Why is this happening?” instead of only “How do we treat it?”. It helps uncover the root causes of chronic issues, like nutrition gaps, hormonal imbalances, or stress patterns. Then, it builds a personalized plan that may include diet, supplements, stress relief tools, and other natural supports to help your body heal itself. Functional Medicine is a focused, detective-style approach within integrative care that finds and fixes the root causes of illness.

As your Integrative Health Functional Medicine Coach, I will support you in your journey to achieve sustainable lifestyle changes by blending the principles of functional medicine with holistic coaching techniques. Here’s how!

Focus on Root Causes - Unlike traditional approaches that often emphasize symptom management, functional medicine coaching guide clients into exploring the root causes of health challenges; things like chronic stress, poor nutrition, sleep disruption, toxin exposure, or unprocessed emotions.

Integrative Support - We wont just look at your physical health. We will also consider your mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being. This approach integrates nutrition, movement, stress management, mindfulness, and other evidence-based practices to support whole-person healing.

Collaborative Role - I will work alongside your current PCP, or other licensed healthcare providers (doctors, nurse practitioners, dietitians, etc.) to help you implement and stay consistent with treatment plans, supplement routines, or lifestyle shifts recommended by your practitioners, or my trusted referred ones.

Behavior Change & Accountability - Through motivational interviewing, goal setting, and habit tracking, I empower my clients to create achievable steps toward health goals, whether that’s reversing pre-diabetes, reducing inflammation, improving energy, or enhancing resilience.

Mind-Body Connection - I implement and/or suggest practices such as mindfulness, meditation, hypnosis, self-hypnosis, reiki, breathwork, journaling, spiritual hygiene, and self-care rituals.
